Asphalt paving & driveways in Milton

Driveways, resurfacing, sealcoating and repairs. Millstone Paving will state the base depth and asphalt thickness in writing, and tell you when an overlay is not the answer.

Base depth stated in writingHot mix, properly rolledFree on-site estimateFully insured

Millstone Paving can pave driveways and lots that stay flat, and nearly all of that is decided under the asphalt: strip the old surface, build and compact the granular base in lifts, grade so the water runs away from the garage. Our quotes state the base depth and the compacted thickness in writing so you can compare them fairly. When your existing base is sound we will tell you an overlay is enough, and when it is not we will tell you that too.

Millstone Paving is invented, and that number is a 555 line. Your site says your name.

Services

The work paving contractors actually sell.

Written out properly, because a list of one-word services tells a homeowner nothing. Delete the ones you do not do and add the ones we missed.

Residential driveway paving

Old asphalt removed, granular base graded and compacted, and hot mix laid and rolled to a thickness stated in the quote.

Resurfacing & overlays

A new surface course over a driveway whose base is still sound, which costs far less than a rebuild when the base genuinely is sound.

Sealcoating

Cleaned, cracks filled, then sealer applied at the right rate and temperature — not sprayed over dust in October to make a driveway look black.

Crack filling & pothole repair

Hot rubberised crack fill and proper square-cut patches, done before water gets into the base and turns a crack into a rebuild.

Grading & drainage correction

Driveways regraded to move water away from the garage and the foundation, because water sitting on asphalt is what destroys it.

Commercial lots & repairs

Parking lots, laneways and approaches paved and repaired, scheduled in stages so the business stays open through the work.

Line painting & accessible parking

Stalls, arrows, fire routes and accessible spaces laid out and painted to the dimensions your municipality requires.

Culverts, aprons & widening

Entrances widened, culverts set to the right invert, and the municipal apron matched cleanly to the road edge.

Credentials

The things a customer checks before they ring.

Listed near the top of the page instead of buried in an About tab. Fill in your numbers and delete anything you do not hold.

  • Base depth and asphalt thickness in the quote

We write the granular base depth and compacted asphalt thickness on the estimate so you can compare quotes honestly.

  • Certified hot mix from a licensed plant

Surface course mix supplied from a commercial plant with the delivery tickets available to you.

  • Base compacted in lifts

Granular placed and compacted in layers with a roller, not dumped, spread and paved over the same afternoon.

  • Municipal entrance permits where required

Permits for work at the road allowance or a new entrance obtained before we start.

  • Written workmanship warranty

A real warranty on the work, on paper, from a company with an address.

  • WSIB coverage & $2M liability

Certificates supplied before the equipment arrives.

On your booking calendar

The jobs people book you for.

These land in the calendar the day you publish. A customer picks one, picks a slot out of your real hours, and the request arrives with the address and what is wrong.

Questions

What people ask paving contractors.

Answered on your site, so the same conversation does not happen on the phone six times a week. Edit any of them.

How long before I can drive and park on new asphalt?

Drive on it after about two to three days, and keep it clear for longer in a hot spell. Asphalt cures by cooling and hardening over months, not hours, so for the first summer avoid parking in the same spot for days, keep motorcycle and trailer jack stands off it without a plate underneath, and do not turn the wheels of a parked car. Most early damage we see is power steering scuffs in the first weeks.

Resurface or full rebuild?

It depends entirely on the base. If the surface is worn and cracked but the driveway is stable, level and drains, an overlay is good value. If there are potholes, alligator cracking, soft spots or areas that hold water, the base has failed and an overlay will telegraph every one of those problems through within a couple of years. We will tell you which one you have, and we will say so even when the cheaper answer is the right one.

When should a new driveway be sealed?

Not for the first season — new asphalt needs time to cure and sealing it early traps oils and can leave it soft. After that, roughly every two to four years, and only when the surface actually needs it. Sealing every single year is a marketing schedule, not a maintenance one, and thick built-up layers of sealer crack and peel on their own.

Why do driveways crack and heave here?

Water and frost. Water enters through cracks and edges, saturates the granular base, then freezes and lifts. That is why base depth, compaction and drainage matter more than the asphalt on top, and why a driveway that ponds water always fails first at the puddle. Filling cracks early is the cheapest maintenance in this trade.

What time of year can you pave?

Roughly late spring through fall. Hot mix has to be laid and rolled while it is hot enough to compact, so cold ground and cold air shorten the working window dramatically and late-season pours risk poor compaction. We would rather schedule you first thing next season than lay a driveway in November that will not compact properly.

Someone knocked on my door offering leftover asphalt at a discount. Should I?

No. That pitch is the oldest driveway scam there is — leftover material is usually cold, thin and rolled straight over the existing surface, there is no base work, and the crew is gone by the time it fails. Deal with a company that has an address, gives you a written quote stating base depth and thickness, and carries insurance you can verify.
