Halloway Auto Service

Honest auto repair in Milton

Diagnostics, brakes, tires, safeties and scheduled maintenance. Halloway Auto Service will give you a written estimate first and show you the worn part afterward.

Licensed techniciansWritten estimate before workLicensed inspection stationNationwide parts warranty

Halloway Auto Service built the kind of shop people send their parents to. Licensed technicians, a written estimate before anything is touched, and the old parts kept for you to look at. We measure brakes in millimetres and tell you when they are fine, we test before replacing, and we will happily tell you a repair is not worth doing on a car you are about to sell.

Halloway Auto Service is invented, and that number is a 555 line. Your site says your name.

Services

The work automotive technicians actually sell.

Written out properly, because a list of one-word services tells a homeowner nothing. Delete the ones you do not do and add the ones we missed.

Diagnostics & check engine lights

Scan tool plus actual testing — we read the code, then prove which part is at fault instead of selling you the first sensor the code mentions.

Brakes

Pads, rotors, calipers, lines and parking brakes, measured and reported in millimetres so you can see how much life is left before you spend.

Safety Standards Certificates

Licensed inspection station work for a vehicle you are selling, importing or re-plating, with the list of what failed and what it takes to pass.

Oil, filters & scheduled maintenance

Manufacturer service intervals done with the right oil spec, and an honest inspection sheet rather than a list of upsells.

Suspension, steering & alignment

Struts, bushings, ball joints, tie rods and wheel bearings replaced, followed by a proper alignment so the new tires do not wear out crooked.

Tires & seasonal changeover

Mount, balance, repair, rotate and store, with pressure sensors reset and torque done to spec instead of run up with an impact gun.

Batteries, alternators & starting

Charging system tested under load in the cold before parts get replaced — a slow crank is not always the battery.

Air conditioning service

AC diagnosed, leak tested and recharged by weight with proper refrigerant recovery, not topped up from a can until next summer.

Credentials

The things a customer checks before they ring.

Listed near the top of the page instead of buried in an About tab. Fill in your numbers and delete anything you do not hold.

Questions

What people ask automotive technicians.

Answered on your site, so the same conversation does not happen on the phone six times a week. Edit any of them.

Will servicing here void my new-car warranty?

No. You are entitled to have maintenance done wherever you like as long as the work meets the manufacturer's schedule and specification and you keep the records. We use the specified fluids and parts and give you an itemised invoice for exactly that reason. Recalls and warranty repairs still have to go back to a dealer.

What is a Safety Standards Certificate and do I need one?

It is an inspection of the safety-related systems, valid for a limited period, and you need one to transfer a used vehicle into a new owner's name or to plate a vehicle brought in from elsewhere. It is not a warranty or an opinion on reliability — it certifies the vehicle met the standard on the day. We give you the full list of anything that fails so you can decide whether to fix it or sell as-is.

The check engine light is on but the car drives fine. Can I wait?

A steady light means get it looked at soon; a flashing light means stop driving, because it usually indicates a misfire that can wreck a catalytic converter in minutes. Even when it drives fine, an emissions fault can quietly cost you fuel and damage expensive parts. The code is a starting point, not a diagnosis — we test the circuit before condemning the part.

Do I have to approve the price first?

Yes, and that is your right, not our courtesy. You get a written estimate before we start, and if we find something else once it is apart, we stop and call you with a revised number. Nothing gets fixed that you did not agree to.

Can you look at a car before I buy it?

Absolutely, and it is the cheapest money in car ownership. A pre-purchase inspection covers frame and rust, fluid leaks, brake and tire life, suspension, scan tool history and anything that suggests collision repair. You get the report whether you buy it or not.

Aftermarket or original parts?

It depends on the part. For brakes, filters and suspension there are quality aftermarket options we trust and warranty. For sensors, electronics and anything emissions-related, original equipment is usually cheaper in the end because the fit and calibration are right the first time. We quote both when there is a real choice.
