Northline Heating & Air works on the boring stuff that decides whether a system lasts: correct sizing, sealed ductwork, and a commissioning sheet at the end instead of a shrug. We service what we sell, we quote the repair alongside the replacement so you can compare, and when the furnace goes down in a cold snap we are the ones picking up the phone.

Northline Heating & Air is invented, and that number is a 555 line. Your site says your name.

Services

The work HVAC technicians actually sell.

Written out properly, because a list of one-word services tells a homeowner nothing. Delete the ones you do not do and add the ones we missed.

Furnace repair & replacement

No heat at midnight, or a twenty-year-old furnace short-cycling — diagnosed honestly, with the repair-or-replace maths shown to you rather than assumed.

Air conditioner installation

Properly sized AC matched to your existing furnace and ductwork, charged to spec and commissioned so it actually hits its rated efficiency.

Cold-climate heat pump conversions

Hybrid or full heat pump systems that keep working below freezing, sized with a heat loss calculation rather than a rule of thumb.

Ductwork design, sealing & balancing

Fix the room that is always cold — new runs, sealed joints and balanced dampers so the airflow matches what the equipment can actually deliver.

Maintenance plans & tune-ups

Seasonal cleaning and safety checks that keep the manufacturer warranty valid and catch a failing inducer motor before it fails in January.

Indoor air quality — HRV, humidifiers, filtration

HRV and ERV installs, whole-home humidifiers and media filtration for houses that are dry in winter, stuffy in summer, or both.

Thermostats & zoning

Smart thermostats wired correctly with a proper C-wire, plus zoning for a second storey that never matches the main floor.

Rebate paperwork & efficiency upgrades

We install to the programs' requirements and handle the submissions, so you are not left chasing a rebate that needed a form filed on install day.

Questions

What people ask HVAC technicians.

Answered on your site, so the same conversation does not happen on the phone six times a week. Edit any of them.

Should I repair my furnace or replace it?

Our rough rule: if the unit is under twelve years old and the repair is a few hundred dollars, fix it. If it is past fifteen, the heat exchanger is cracked, or the repair costs more than a third of a new system, replacement almost always wins on running cost alone. We show you the numbers for your unit and let you decide — no scare tactics about carbon monoxide unless there is an actual reading.

Do heat pumps really work in a Canadian winter?

Cold-climate models do, and they keep useful capacity well below freezing. Most homes here get set up as a hybrid: the heat pump carries the shoulder seasons and mild winter days, and the gas furnace takes over on the coldest nights. We run a heat loss calculation on your house before recommending a size, because an oversized heat pump short-cycles and an undersized one leaves you cold.

What size system do I need?

It is not based on square footage alone, whatever the last quote said. Insulation, window area, ceiling height, orientation and duct capacity all change the answer. Oversized equipment cools the air without pulling the humidity out, which is why some houses feel clammy at 22 degrees. We size it properly, once.

How often should I change the filter?

A one-inch filter every one to three months, a four or five-inch media filter roughly annually. More often with pets, shedding kids or a renovation in the house. A blocked filter is the single most common cause of the no-heat calls we get in January, and it costs five dollars to prevent.

How long does an installation take, and will I be without heat?

A furnace or AC changeout is normally one day. A furnace-and-AC pair or a heat pump conversion is one to two. We do not leave a house without heat overnight in winter — if something unexpected turns up mid-install, we get temporary heat in place before we go.

Are there rebates on this?

Often yes, particularly for heat pumps and high-efficiency equipment, and the programs change every year. Some require pre- and post-install assessments in a specific order, so tell us before you book anything. We install to the program's requirements and file the paperwork with you.
