What we do

Heating & cooling services in Oakville

Heating, cooling and heat pumps sized for the house you actually have

  • Furnace replacement & repair

High-efficiency gas furnaces sized off a real heat loss, installed with new venting and a properly commissioned gas pressure. Repairs on any make, most parts on the van.

    From$4,200

  • Cold-climate heat pumps

Air source heat pumps that still deliver at -25°C, set up as a hybrid with your furnace so the house switches to whichever fuel is cheaper that hour.

    From$8,900

  • Air conditioning

New AC installs, coil and condenser replacements, and repairs. We check the line set and the duct static before we quote — most 'weak AC' complaints in Oakville are duct problems.

    From$3,800

  • Ductless mini-splits

Single and multi-zone systems for additions, offices over the garage and third-floor bedrooms that have never been comfortable.

    From$3,400

  • Maintenance plans

Two visits a year, priority booking in a cold snap, 15% off parts, and a written report with the readings — not a sticker on the side of the furnace.

    From$249/year

  • Ductwork design & sealing

Static pressure testing, return air added where it's starving, and aeroseal-style sealing. Usually the cheapest comfort fix in the house.

  • Thermostats & zoning

Smart thermostats configured for hybrid heating properly, plus two- and three-zone dampers for houses that fight themselves.

  • Gas lines & hookups

G1 licensed gas work: BBQ lines, ranges, dryers, pool heaters and garage heaters, permitted and pressure tested.

About

Twenty years of Oakville mechanical rooms

Sean Whitfield spent nine years on new-build HVAC before opening Bronte Mechanical on Speers Road in 2006. There are nine of us: five installers, three service techs and Dana in the office who actually returns calls. We do a heat loss and heat gain calculation on every replacement, because the fastest way to a noisy, short-cycling, expensive house is a contractor who sold you the same size that was there before. We install what the numbers say, we commission it with gauges on, and we leave you the report.

  • Three companies quoted our furnace and heat pump. Bronte was the only one who measured anything. Sean's report showed our old furnace was two sizes too big, which explained twenty years of the upstairs being freezing. New system is smaller, quieter and our gas bill dropped by a third.

  • No heat, -18 outside, two kids in the house. Called at 6:40am and a tech was in the driveway before 9. Ignitor and a cracked pressure switch hose. He had both on the van.

    Raymond C.Bronte · January 2026 · Google

  • They handled the entire Home Renovation Savings rebate application. We'd have given up on the paperwork. Install crew put down floor protection from the front door all the way to the mechanical room.

  • On the maintenance plan for six years. Same tech most visits, actual written readings each time, and when the AC finally died they credited part of the plan against the replacement.

    Peter S.Burlington · May 2026 · Google

  • Excellent work on a ductless system for our addition. Scheduling slipped twice in the July heat wave, which I understand, though I'd have liked to hear it from them first rather than having to phone.

Questions

Before you call

A cold-climate unit still produces heat at -25°C, which covers all but a handful of hours a year here. We set them up as hybrids: the heat pump runs down to your changeover point and the furnace takes over below it, so you're never cold and never burning gas you didn't need to.

Most Oakville homeowners qualify for the Home Renovation Savings Program on a heat pump, and there are Enbridge incentives for high-efficiency equipment. We tell you the real post-rebate number in the quote and we file the paperwork.

Because oversized equipment short-cycles: it blasts, shuts off, never dehumidifies, and wears out early. A CSA F280 calculation takes us about an hour and it's the difference between a system that's comfortable and one that's merely warm.

Fifteen to twenty years in a typical Oakville home. Past fifteen with a major failure, we'll usually show you the repair cost against the replacement cost and let you make the call — plenty of our customers repair and get another three winters.

Yes, any brand. Our maintenance plans are open to anyone in the service area regardless of who put the system in.

Yes, on installs over $3,000 — terms up to ten years through our lender. We'll show you the monthly figure next to the rebate figure so you can see the whole picture.
