Who we are
About Miles
Miles was built on emergency calls, which is a blunt way to learn what homeowners actually need: a straight answer, a fixed price, and someone who shows up. We handle everything from a seized shutoff valve to a full repipe, we protect your floors on the way in, and we will always tell you when a repair is the smarter money than a replacement.
What we do
- Drain clearing & camera inspection
- Water heater replacement
- Sump pumps & backwater valves
- Repiping galvanized, lead & Poly-B
- Leak detection & burst pipe repair
- Fixture, faucet & toilet installs
What we offer
Our services
Work we take on for homes and businesses in Scarborough and nearby.
- 01
Drain clearing & camera inspection
Snake or hydro-jet the blockage, then put a camera down the line so you can see whether it was grease, roots or a broken pipe before you pay for anything bigger.
- 02
Water heater replacement
Tank or tankless, sized to how many showers actually run at once, with the old unit hauled away and the venting brought up to current code.
- 03
Sump pumps & backwater valves
Keep the basement dry and the city sewer where it belongs — including battery backup pumps and the valve most municipal rebate programs require.
- 04
Repiping galvanized, lead & Poly-B
Replace failing supply lines with PEX or copper, staged room by room so the house is never without water overnight.
- 05
Leak detection & burst pipe repair
Find the leak behind the wall or under the slab with acoustic and moisture tools, then open the smallest hole that gets the job done.
- 06
Fixture, faucet & toilet installs
Faucets, toilets, laundry tubs, dishwashers and fridge water lines swapped with proper shutoffs so the next repair does not need the whole house drained.
- 07
Bathroom & kitchen rough-ins
Supply, drain and vent laid out for a renovation or a basement bath, inspected and signed off before the walls close in.
- 08
Main shutoff & pressure regulators
Seized main valves replaced and pressure regulators set so 90 psi from the street stops hammering your fixtures apart.

Good questions
Frequently asked
A water bill that jumps for no reason, a meter dial that creeps when every tap is off, a warm patch on a basement floor, musty smell, or paint that bubbles on one wall. Shut every fixture off and watch the meter for fifteen minutes — if it moves, call us. Catching it early is the difference between a patch and a ceiling.
Tankless makes sense if you run out of hot water, want the floor space back, or plan to stay in the house long enough for the gas savings to pay back the higher install cost. A tank is cheaper up front, simpler to service, and perfectly good for most families. The real question is your gas line size and venting route, which is why we look before recommending either.
Repairs and like-for-like fixture swaps generally do not. New drains, vents, rough-ins for a basement bathroom, and backwater valve installs do. We pull the permit and handle the inspection, and for backwater valves we also fill in the municipal rebate paperwork — many cities cover a meaningful share of the cost.
Because clearing is not the same as fixing. Recurring clogs usually mean tree roots at a joint, a bellied section of pipe holding water, or old cast iron that has scaled shut. That is why we camera the line after clearing it — so you know whether you have a maintenance problem or a pipe problem before spending more.
You get the price before we start, not after. We quote flat rates per job rather than an open-ended hourly clock, and the diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair if you go ahead. After-hours calls carry a clearly stated surcharge that we tell you on the phone.
Shut the water off — either the fixture's own valve or the main shutoff where the pipe enters the house. If it is a water heater, close the cold inlet on top. Move anything valuable off the floor, and if water is anywhere near electrical panels or outlets, kill the breaker first. Then call us and we will talk you through the rest.
