The crew that shows up when it's raining
Curtis Vandermeer put his first roof on in Fergus at nineteen and started Speed River in 2011 with a truck and a nail gun. Eight of us now, all WSIB covered, all on the roof — we don't sell your job to a subcontractor you've never met. We work one house at a time so your roof is off and back on the same day rather than sitting under plastic for a week, and every job ends with a magnet run over the lawn and driveway. When a storm comes through Wellington County we keep two trucks free for tarping, because a $400 tarp today beats a ceiling replacement in March.

What we do
Our roofing services
Big jobs and small ones, across Guelph and the surrounding area.
Emergency leak repair & tarpingPopular
Storm damage, blown-off shingles, a stain spreading across the ceiling. We tarp within four hours and give you photos for the insurance claim.
From $395
Roof inspections & insurance reportsPopular
Twenty-point inspection with photos of every issue, a remaining-life estimate, and a report your insurer or your buyer's lawyer will accept.
From $0 for homeowners
Eavestrough & downspouts
Seamless 5" and 6" trough rolled on site, hidden hangers, and downspouts run far enough from the foundation to actually help.
From $9/ft
Attic ventilation & insulation
Most 'roof' problems in older Guelph houses are ventilation problems. Ridge vent, baffles and topped-up insulation, priced with the roof or on their own.
Skylights & flashing
Skylight replacement, chimney and wall flashing redone in proper step flashing rather than a bead of caulk over last year's caulk.
Ice dams & winter repairs
Steam removal of ice dams without chipping your shingles, plus the ventilation fix so it doesn't come back next January.

What our customers say
4.8 out of 5 from 5 reviews.
The July storm took shingles off the back slope and water was coming through the spare room ceiling. Curtis had a tarp on it in two hours and photos in my inbox for the insurance claim that night. Full roof went on three weeks later, one day, spotless yard.

Four quotes. Two told us we needed a whole roof. Speed River went in the attic, found a lifted nail and a bad boot, and fixed it for under five hundred dollars. Guess who's replacing the roof when it's actually time.

Rockwood · June 2026 · HomeStars
Roof, eavestrough and attic insulation in the same week. The crew was on site at 7am each day and gone by 5, and they ran a magnet over my whole driveway twice. Not one nail in a tire since.

Bought a house with a questionable roof. Their inspection report was so thorough our lawyer used it in the price negotiation. We got $6,000 off and then had them do the roof.

Solid work on a steep roof most people wouldn't touch. Rain pushed us back four days, which is nobody's fault, and Curtis kept me updated the whole time.

FAQ
Common questions
Don't see your question? Call and ask. We'd rather answer it on the phone than have you guess.
Within four hours in Guelph, Rockwood and Puslinch, day or night. We keep two trucks uncommitted during storm weeks specifically for this.
Most Guelph houses are a single day: tear-off in the morning, dried in by early afternoon, shingles and cleanup by evening. Big or complex roofs run two days and we'll say so up front.
If your shingles are under fifteen years old and the problem is one area, it's usually a repair, and we'd rather do the repair and keep you as a customer. We'll show you photos from the roof and the attic either way.
Often, for wind and hail. We photograph everything, write it up in the language adjusters expect, and we're happy to meet yours on site. We never inflate a claim.
Tarps over the beds, plywood against the siding, and a magnet run over the lawn and driveway before we pull out. If you find a nail afterwards, call us and we'll come back.
Yes, unless we open the roof and find rotten decking — that's the one thing nobody can see from the ground. Replacement sheathing is priced per sheet in the quote so there's no surprise, and we photograph every sheet we replace.
