About us

Eleven seasons on the same roads

Jesse Tomlin started cutting grass in Preston at seventeen and built Blair Road Landscape into a seven-person crew that still works within twenty minutes of the yard. We do two things: build outdoor spaces properly — which mostly means the base under the stone, the part nobody photographs — and then look after them. Every build gets a drawing and a fixed price, and every patio goes down on 8 inches of compacted granular so it's still flat when your kids are teenagers. We're honest about the season, too: nobody in Waterloo Region is starting a patio in November, and we'd rather book you in for spring than take a deposit and disappoint you.

Testimonials

What our customers say

  • We had a mud pit with a broken deck. Jesse drew three options, we picked one, and the price never changed. Nine days and it's the part of the house we use most. Two winters on and the patio hasn't moved a millimetre.

  • Retaining wall along the driveway that two other companies wanted to do without drainage. Blair Road explained exactly why that fails, did it properly with clear stone and geogrid, and it's dead straight after the wettest spring in years.

    Dev & Anita S.

    Hespeler · June 2026 · HomeStars

  • Weekly cutting for four seasons now. Same two guys, same day, and they text if rain moves them. The edging is genuinely better than I ever did it myself.

    Bruce W.

    Preston · June 2026 · Google

  • The planting plan was worth every dollar. They chose natives that handle our clay and by the second summer the beds filled in exactly the way the drawing said they would. The pollinators found it immediately.

    Chantal R.

    Ayr · August 2025 · Facebook

  • Beautiful walkway and front beds. Start was pushed back two weeks by rain in a bad spring — understandable, though we'd have appreciated a call rather than emailing to ask where things stood.

Questions

Frequently asked

If your question isn't here, call us — we would rather explain it than have you guess.

Builds run April to late November, weather permitting. We're usually booking six to ten weeks ahead in season — if you call us in August for a patio, spring is the honest answer, and we'd rather say so.

Most Cambridge patios come in between $38 and $52 a square foot installed, depending on the stone, the access and how much excavation the grade needs. A 300 square foot patio is typically $12,000 to $15,000.

Because 8 inches of compacted granular is what keeps stone flat through a Waterloo Region freeze-thaw. A 4-inch base is cheaper today and wavy in three years. It's the main reason quotes differ, and it's worth asking every contractor about.

Yes, and most of our build customers stay on for weekly maintenance. It's a fixed seasonal price billed monthly from May through October.

Happily. Bring an architect or designer's plan and we'll price and build it. If we think something in it won't survive our winters we'll flag it before we start, not after.

We book Ontario One Call locates on every job and we hand-dig near anything marked. If you have irrigation, tell us where the heads are and we'll cap and reroute rather than discover them with a machine.
